Home Rehabilitation Programs
The following programs help homeowners make repairs and improvements to their home, which provides a safe environment and helps secure their investments.

Fix up Fund ProgramBrooklyn Center residents have the opportunity to participate in the Minnesota Fix-Up Fund Loan Programadministered through the Lending Center for Energy and Environment (CEE).  CEE offers low-interest loans for Minnesota homeowners to make improvements in their homes.  CEE, a Minneapolis based nonprofit organization, is the lender for this program and will assist homeowners through the loan process.

Eligible projects include most interior and exterior permanent improvements including kitchen, flooring, windows, driveways, fences, energy improvements, accessibility improvements and more!  Terms & conditions apply.

Hennepin County Rehabilitation Loan Program
This program is administered by Hennepin County and offers deferred, no-interest home repair loans to homeowners up to 50% of metro area median income ($42,900 for a household of four). Also available are deferred loans with a modest interest charge for homeowners up to 80% of AMI ($65,700 for a household of four). Income limits will depend on your household size. Hennepin County Healthy Homes Grant Program
Healthy Home Grants are available to make certain repairs to homes located in Brooklyn Center.  Homeowners that qualify can apply for up to $8,000 to help identify hazards in the home.  The application and  a Healthy Home Consent Form must be completed in order to apply and participate in the program.   For further information contact the Sustainable Resource Center at (612) 872-3281 or go to:

Hennepin County Deconstruction Grants

Salvage, reuse and recycle most of the building materials from your next home remodeling or demo project with a Deconstruction Grant from Hennepin County.  Homeowners and developers can receive up to $5,000 to offset costs.  Learn more and apply at Hennepin County's website  or by calling (612) 348-3777.

Remodeling Adviser Visits:  

A remodeling adviser service that offers the following:

  • Free visit from a home adviser to prioritize potential improvements
  • Assistance with the bidding process
  • Answers questions and provides feedback regarding project ideas
  • Discuss energy-efficient options for the home
